WorkCam 3.0.9 Is Here: Bigger, Faster, and Yes… We Finally Wrote Another Blog Post

Published: March 6, 2026

It’s been more than a year since our last blog post.

We’d say we were “heads down building,” but at this point it was more like heads down, cameras up, coffee depleted, shipping relentlessly.

The good news: the silence was productive.

WorkCam 3.0.9 is one of our biggest updates yet, packed with features that make capturing, organizing, and collaborating on work content much easier. This release adds long-requested team notifications, powerful new document scanning tools, major video recording upgrades, smarter automatic album creation, substantial performance improvements, and important stability fixes.

Let’s get into it.

🔔 Team Push Notifications for New Content

One of the biggest additions in WorkCam 3.0.9 is push notifications when team members add new content to the team.

When a team member uploads photos or videos, everyone on the team who has opted in to notifications can be notified right away. This helps teams stay in sync without needing to constantly open the app and check for updates.

This feature is especially useful for teams using Photo Sync, where work is happening across multiple people and devices throughout the day.

Why this matters:

  • Know when new site photos are added in real time.
  • Keep office staff and field staff aligned without extra messaging.
  • Stay on top of progress updates as they happen.
  • Reduce the chance that important uploads go unnoticed.

If your team relies on shared visual documentation, this is a big one.

📄 New Document Scanning, Built Right Into the Camera

WorkCam’s camera can now detect when a document is in view and surface a button that launches Apple’s advanced document scanning experience.

That means you can quickly capture:

  • Invoices
  • Receipts
  • Site notes
  • Permits
  • Checklists
  • Printed plans or reference sheets

Once scanned, documents flow right back into WorkCam just like the rest of your content. You can add them to albums or keep them in pending until you’re ready to organize them.

This makes WorkCam even more useful as an all-in-one capture tool—not just for photos and videos, but for the paperwork that often goes with them.

🎥 Video Capture Gets a Huge Upgrade

This release brings some of the biggest improvements yet to WorkCam’s video recording experience.

And yes—these were hard to build. Very hard. The kind of hard that makes you stare at camera APIs like they’ve personally wronged you.

But they’re here.

Pause and Resume While Filming

You can now pause and resume a video recording without having to create multiple separate clips.

This is incredibly useful when:

  • You’re documenting progress across multiple moments but want one final video.
  • You need to pause while moving between rooms, floors, or work areas.
  • You want to skip dead time while setting up the next shot.
  • You’re recording walkthroughs, inspections, or updates for clients and want a cleaner final result.

Instead of juggling several video files and stitching them together later, you can capture a more polished video in one go.

Seamlessly Switch Between Rear and Front Camera While Filming

WorkCam now also supports switching from the rear-facing camera to the front-facing camera while recording video.

This opens up all kinds of possibilities:

  • Start by showing the job site, then switch to yourself for commentary.
  • Record a walkthrough and flip the camera when you want to explain something directly.
  • Create more engaging update videos for clients or team members.
  • Capture behind-the-scenes content for social media or marketing.

For content creators, team leads, and anyone who uses video to communicate, this makes WorkCam far more flexible.

🗂 Auto-Generate Albums by Date

WorkCam already helps organize photos automatically, and now there’s a new option: automatic album generation by date.

If enabled, photos captured with the WorkCam camera can be automatically added to an album folder named for the current date, such as:

  • March 6, 2026
  • March 7, 2026
  • March 8, 2026

This works similarly to WorkCam’s existing auto-generation by location, but gives teams another powerful way to keep content organized with less manual effort.

Why teams will love this:

  • Perfect for day-by-day job documentation.
  • Makes it easier to review progress chronologically.
  • Reduces the time spent manually creating and sorting albums.
  • Helps keep high-volume photo workflows neat and predictable.

For teams that capture a lot of media every day, this feature can save serious time.

⚡ Massive Performance Improvements on the Main Photos Screens

This is one of those upgrades you feel immediately.

In WorkCam 3.0.9, the main photo screens have been heavily optimized so there should now be virtually no lag or waiting when opening them.

In internal testing on an account with around 5,000 photos, cold-start loading time dropped from roughly 3 seconds to around a few hundred milliseconds.

That means:

  • Faster startup into your photo library
  • Less waiting when opening large accounts
  • Smoother browsing across photo-heavy teams
  • A much more responsive everyday experience

Performance work is not always flashy, but this one is a big quality-of-life improvement for anyone using WorkCam regularly.

🛠 Photo Detail Screen Crash Fixes and a Full SwiftUI Upgrade

We also spent time addressing crashes related to the Photo Detail screen.

As part of that work, the entire screen was upgraded from UIKit to SwiftUI.

That brings a few nice benefits:

  • Better stability
  • Cleaner rendering
  • Fewer visual glitches
  • Removal of odd scrolling and display artifacts

In other words: fewer crashes, fewer weird UI moments, and a more modern foundation for future improvements.

Why This Release Matters

WorkCam 3.0.9 is not just a feature bump. It’s a practical upgrade aimed at the real day-to-day flow of teams that rely on visual documentation.

This update helps you:

  • Communicate faster with push notifications
  • Capture more than just photos with integrated document scanning
  • Create better videos with pause/resume and live camera switching
  • Organize content automatically by date
  • Move through large photo libraries much faster
  • Work more confidently with improved stability

It’s a release focused on making WorkCam feel faster, smarter, and more capable everywhere that counts.
