What a project is
Albums organize media. A project organizes a job.
A project brings together everything that happens on a piece of work: the photos and videos from the site, the notes you took, the updates you sent the customer, what the job cost, and what the customer paid. Instead of piecing a job back together from a camera roll, a messaging thread, and a shoebox of receipts, it is all on one screen.
Projects are useful for any work that runs over days or weeks — a renovation, an install, a landscaping contract, a series of client appointments.
Create a project
- Open the Projects tab.
- Tap New Project.
- Give it a Title. A Description, a Client, and an Expected Completion date are optional and can be added later with Edit Details.
What is inside a project
| Section | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Activity | One feed of everything that has happened on the job |
| Media | Photos and videos linked to the project |
| Notes | Formatted notes — learn more |
| Updates | Client updates and status updates — learn more |
| Money | Expenses and payments received — learn more |
| Clients | The customers this job is for |
Activity
The Activity feed at the top of every project shows updates, notes, media, expenses, payments, and status changes in the order they happened, so you can see what went on without opening each section. Filter the feed by type from the Activity screen.
Media
Add photos and videos with Add Media or Import Media, choosing from your albums, or send media to a project from the share menu anywhere else in WorkCam. The same photo can belong to an album and a project at the same time — adding it to a project does not move or copy it.
Open a photo in a project to see every note and update it is used in.
Discussion
Team members can comment on items in a project's activity, reply to each other, and keep the conversation about a job attached to the job. Discussions need an internet connection and a signed-in account.
Clients
A client is a customer you work for. One client can span several projects, so everything you do for them is grouped in one place.
- Add clients from the Clients screen, or create one while linking it to a project.
- Store a contact (phone and email) and a billing address. Tap to call or email straight from the client's page.
- A project can have more than one client. The primary client is the one shown on the project card, and the one that costs and billing roll up to.
- A client's page lists every project for them and what has been spent across those projects.
- Filter the Projects tab by client to see only their jobs.
Project status
Every project is Active, Completed, or Archived.
- Mark a finished job Completed to keep it visible but out of the way of current work.
- Archive a project to hide it from the main list. Archived projects are still kept — find them under Archived and mark one Active again at any time.
Status changes are recorded in the project's Activity feed.
Sorting projects
Sort the Projects tab by name, date created, or most recently updated using the filter button at the top left. WorkCam remembers your choice.
Deleting a project
Delete Project removes the project and everything recorded in it — notes, updates, expenses, payments, and client links. It cannot be undone.
If you only want a finished job out of the way, archive it instead.
Projects and your team
Projects work on your device without any subscription.
To share projects with your team — so everyone sees the same media, notes, updates, and money — the team needs a Photo Sync subscription. Photo Sync is also what keeps a project's contents backed up off your phone.
