Team Notifications

How WorkCam notifies your team when new photos and videos are synced, and how to turn notifications on.

What team notifications tell you

When someone on your team backs up new media, WorkCam can notify the rest of the team that content has arrived. This is what keeps a team from having to open the app and check: an office manager knows when photos from a site visit have landed, without asking the person who took them.

Notifications are tied to Photo Sync. They report media arriving in your team's shared storage, which is what Photo Sync backs up — so notifications only apply when Photo Sync is active.

Allowing notifications

WorkCam has to ask iOS for permission before it can notify you at all. If you declined that prompt, or want to check:

  1. Open the iOS Settings app.
  2. Find WorkCam in the app list.
  3. Tap Notifications and allow them.

When a notification is not sent

There are two ordinary reasons your team may not see notifications, and neither is a fault:

  • Photo Sync is not active. Notifications describe media arriving in team storage, and without a Photo Sync subscription nothing is arriving there to announce.
  • You are the only person on the team. If a team has a single member, WorkCam does not send a sync notification — there is nobody else to inform, and notifying yourself about your own upload is just noise.

Notifications and background updates

Alongside the notifications you see, WorkCam also uses silent notifications. These carry no message and do not appear on your lock screen; they exist to let the app refresh newly synced content in the background so it is already there when you next open WorkCam.

This is why the app can feel up to date the moment you open it, even if you have not launched it since a teammate uploaded.

Troubleshooting

I am not getting notifications when teammates upload

Work through these in order:

  1. Confirm notifications are allowed for WorkCam in the iOS Settings app.
  2. Confirm the team owner has an active Photo Sync subscription.
  3. Confirm the team has more than one member.
  4. Confirm you are on the team you expect — the Account screen shows your current team.
