Scan a document
WorkCam's camera recognizes paper documents in the viewport. When one is detected, WorkCam offers to open the document scanner, where the page is captured, straightened, and cropped to its edges rather than photographed at whatever angle you were holding the phone.
This is what makes receipts, permits, invoices, signed work orders, and handwritten site notes worth keeping in WorkCam: they end up as clean, readable pages filed with the job they belong to, instead of as skewed photos.
Turn document detection on
- Open Settings.
- Go to Camera.
- Turn on Document Detection.
With it enabled, WorkCam offers the scanner whenever it sees a document while the camera is open.
Review and save
After scanning you can review the pages before committing them.
Reorder pages
Drag pages into the order you want before saving. A multi-page document is saved in the order shown.
Where scans go
Saved scans follow the same path as anything else you capture — they land in Pending Photos first, ready to be moved into the album for the relevant project, client, or job.

Troubleshooting
The scan option does not appear
Check Settings → Camera → Document Detection first — the scanner is only offered when detection is turned on.
If it is on, WorkCam needs to be able to see the document clearly to recognize it as one:
- Get all four edges of the page inside the viewport.
- Put the page on a surface that contrasts with it — a white page on a white table is hard to find an edge on.
- Avoid heavy shadow across the page, and your own shadow over it.
The scan cut off part of the page
WorkCam crops to the edges it detects, so an edge it cannot see is an edge it cannot keep. Flatten curled pages and make sure nothing is resting on top of the document.
